Future of ARCA Fest at Milwaukee Mile in Question

After of a disappointing drop in attendance over the past two years, the future of ARCA Fest and the Howie Lettow Memorial 150 at the Milwaukee Mile is in serious jeopardy.

Dave Kallmann of the Journal Sentinel reported this morning that ARCA Midwest Tour vice president Steve Einhaus says he's not sure of the future of the Howie Lettow Memorial race.

Series officials will meet shortly to discuss the future of the event with sponsors and Cheryl Lettow, the widow of the longtime crew chief and racing mentor after whom the race was named.  Moving it away from the Mile is one option, as is moving it back to a Tuesday.

Steve Einhaus - ARCA Midwest Tour VP:

"We’re going to do some evaluating. We’re going to sit down with Cheryl Lettow (widow of Howie Lettow), and we’re going to sit down with the sponsors here the next few weeks and decide what the future holds. So hopefully we’ll get something figured out. The sponsor and Cheryl want to see it moved to a smaller venue. So we’ve got some talking to do to figure out what we’re going to do.

The cost to rent that racetrack (Milwaukee Mile) and to man it, just the expense of the maintenance and getting it ready, it’s just astronomical. We just have to decide what the plan is. We need a more significant corporate backing to pull it off. It’s obvious it needs to be on a Tuesday, and it’s obvious we need to have some guests to make it successful. So I guess we’ll see what happens."

If it wasn't already big enough, ARCA Fest weekend just keeps getting better and better. On Saturday, June 7th from 8:00AM to 8:00PM, Hot Rod enthusiasts, Car Clubs, and fans can all take part in the 1st Annual ARCA Fest Hot Rod Show & Shine.

This event is a huge addition to an already full weekend of family fun and entertainment, all leading up to The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment's 3rd Annual Swiss Colony Howie Lettow Memorial 150 presented by RaceTeamGear.com. Reserved tickets for ARCA Fest go on sale March 14th.

When the Gas Guzzlers Car Club and The Original Memories Car Club, both of the greater Milwaukee area, heard of all of the great things that will be happening at the Milwaukee Mile during ARCA Fest it was a no brainer for them to organize a huge event to add to the festivities.

"When we heard about ARCA Hot Rod Fest, we knew we wanted to be a part of it. This event has the potential to become one of the biggest events in the state and to hold the event inside of the Historic Milwaukee Mile is amazing in itself. We were able to visit with thousands of people at the World of Wheels last weekend and I'm hear to tell you, this is gonna be big and we are honored to be a part of it," said Gas Guzzlers Vice President, Paul Adamec.
